While we all love the availability and inventory of the big 'go-to' gear shops (REI, Dicks, etc), it's nice to support a more "Local" effort when possible.

Gear Junkie has a great list of the top independently run gear shops across the US. While most on the list are in the western half of the country, there are plenty of options across our great land.

Mountain Chalet, located in downtown Colorado Springs, CO since 1968, is the best place for local advice, great gear, and a true Rocky Mountain attitude.
